Beyond the user, the weakest part of most IT systems is the age of the system itself. As legacy systems move from end-of-use to end-of-life, modernizing those systems becomes an existential need to ensure they aren’t vulnerable to threats old and new.
Fifth Domain has been invited by the U.S. Air Force to visit with the 39th Information Operations Squadron, to review the nuts and bolts of basic training for the Air Force’s cyber warriors.
The 39th Information Operations Squadron, located at Hurlburt field, Florida, is the U.S. Air Force’s premier information operations and cyberspace format training unit. The unit conducts initial qualification training to provide mission-ready information operations and cyber warfare operators for all Air Force major commands.
Fifth Domain will explore the current approach and future vision for training people to operate in the cyber domain and to utilize the tools available to support cyber offense and defense missions; incorporating cyber skills and processes into service operations; and evolving force structure and responsibilities as the military progresses toward a more integrated force.
